‘It was owned by the clergy for 56 years’
1947 Rover 16 P2 Alan Kingston, Poole, Dorset
P2 was a pre-war design that Rover continued after WWII. I love the Thirties style. It has the 2.2-litre six-cylinder engine, which means it’s quite capable in modern traffic. Her name is Petunia (P2near) and from 1947 to 1973 she belonged to a Welsh vicar, the Reverend Jenkins from Carmarthenshire, after which she passed to his son. In 2003 it was sold on and I bought it at ACA for £6300 last year. I’ve done a few jobs, the interior is nearly finished and I’ve fettled and fitted a new exhaust as well. We have toured with her and done a few weddings – all in all, no regrets.
