Mazda has announced that from 2019 it will produce a compressionignition petrol engine that doesn’t need spark plugs and also increases fuel efficiency by up to 30 per cent. Coming at a time when the future of diesel engines is increasingly under threat, this fascinating technology is certainly one to watch.
