Repair panels for Brit family favourite available at last

-

Enthusiast group ado16. info has succeeded in sorting the manufacture of repair panels for the BMC 1100/1300 range. The group, run by enthusiast Michael Turner, has used crowdfunding to raise money to purchase examples of particularly scarce panelwork, and has commissioned Classic Sheet Metal Ltd of Birmingham to produce repair sections.

‘These sections have only been made possible through the effort of crowdfunding,’ said Turner. These parts will help ensure our cars can stay on the road for several years to come.’

Production and despatch has already begun – and Classic Sheet Metal will even prepare and weld the repair sections into your shell if necessary. Members of ado16. info are entitled to a 10 per cent discount on the cost of these new panels. While these new BMC ADO16 panels are a brilliant development, this approach needs to be more widespread across the classic car community and manufacturers

are being encouraged to participate. ‘We have to ensure that in the future we can show our children what we did 50 years ago with these cars. That involves placing a bit of pressure on the car industry to take care that we get proper, good-quality, original parts. That is the main thing.’
