UNIQUE MIDGET RACES ON AFTER 55 YEARS

-

We love finding new (old) cars and in the Midget and Sprite Club’s Mascot magazine recently had a corker – a fixed-head MG Midget. Current owner Per Roxlin relates the story: ‘The car was commissioned by Bosse Elmhorn, Competition Manager of BMC Sweden. The Midget GT was based on a 1962 car that left the Abingdon factory with aluminium rear panels and doors while the fastback was handmade by a Swedish panel specialist. The engine was taken from a Cooper T59. The car didn’t prove very competitive but it did raise the Midget’s profile and sales increased.’ The car is still raced and it has its own website at mgmidgetgt.se
