‘I got 160bhp from it on the dyno’

1967 Volvo 1800S Russ Tidbury, Portsmouth, Hampshire

-

I’ve had the car since 2005 and have overhauled different bits each year to ensure it remained on the road. I try to drive the car most weeks but travel and work does impact this. I normally have a project each year. In 2016 this was fitting the rare Volvo Rsport induction kit to the car. It took up most of my time but I don’t know of another Volvo fitted with the complete kit. It currently dynos just under 160bhp but new air correctors should see a further increase.

I have ambitions to drive my 1800S across Canada, shipping the car over to Halifax then returning it from Vancouver. As part of my work (office in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) I'm all over the country, and I’ve just returned from Moose Jaw and working with The Cree Nations, so the trip makes sense. At the moment, my winter project is fitting a hidden stereo. This utilises a pair of speakers up front driven by a sizeable amp and a subwoofer that has been fitted into an alcove in the boot. The head unit is actually a JL Audio hidden bluetooth box that will interface with my iphone.

?? ?? This Volvo packs a real punch, not that you can tell by looking at the exterior. It's a proper sleeper.
