The Splash te­tra, Copella arnoldi, lays its eggs out of the wa­ter, on over­hang­ing leaves to pro­tect them from aquatic preda­tors. It then keeps them wet by splash­ing wa­ter at them with its tail un­til they hatch and drop into the wa­ter be­low.
