Holiday feeding advice

Practical Fishkeeping (UK) - - Tank Community -

I read with interest the question on feeding fish while on holiday in the July issue of PFK.

I have a Juwel Trigon 350, which has an opening at the top on which to stand the Juwel automatic feeder. Before going away on a two-week holiday, I filled the feeder with flake and checked that everything was functioning correctly.

On my return I found that hardly any food had gone into the tank. Upon investigation, I discovered that the flake had absorbed condensation from the tank, causing it to clog.

I mentioned this to my local aquatic dealer who told me she had had the same problem and that it would be best in future to use crisp or pellet food rather than flake in the feeder.

I thought I’d pass this advice on in the hope that it will help fellow fishkeepers. David Mcintyre, N. E. Lincs.
