l I was flying back home to the States from Asia, and the plane went over the southern part of the San Francisco Bay just around sunset. The landscape below me immediately caught my eye and I realised that it would make a really fun abstract. Once back on the ground, I booked a helicopter tour and ended up spending 45 minutes flying over some salt ponds – out of the way of the path of the large airliners – shooting all the different colours and textures.
