Create your own homage to spring, by documenting the arrival of the new season through your photography. Jo Stephen (instagram. com/joannunaki) shot this image with that exact purpose in mind...
“I recently read about Hanami, the traditional Japanese custom of enjoying the transient beauty of flowers. I decided that I wanted to put this into action by capturing some cherry blossom.
“I wanted the flowers to appear to be made out of light and be at one with the environment they grew in, so to achieve this effect I shot directly into the sun with a 50mm lens set at f/1.7. In order to fill the image with pink light and bokeh I framed up with a few blossoms in the foreground and ensured that the sun shone through the petals behind my focal point.”
