Zed not dead
Kawasaki Z1100, Neil Prendergast, Preston, Lancs
After a six-year break from biking, I stumbled upon what is now my 1983 Kawasaki Z1000 J3. It’d been taken in part-ex at a local bike shop as a nonrunning unfinished project. For me it was love at first sight. Over the winter months the tank was lined, carbs ultrasonically cleaned and Dynojetted.
With fresh fuel she fired up. The engine is allegedly bored out to 1073cc. I haven’t got a clue what the forks or swingarm are off. I think the wheels are ZX-7R. It may not be to the taste of purists but it has plenty of poke and handles far better than I thought it would.
Nice resurrection from a pile of old bones
