Get a bike. VFR, GSX-R, FZ or GPX (early mod­els). A project will rush you £500-plus. A min­ter up to £2000. Then you’ll need to race prep it: lock­wire sump plug, oil and coolant plugs; fit a ‘shark fin’ chain guard; tip-top brakes; grippy rub­ber; de­cent shock and ser­viced forks.
