8(9:10) 50g balls of Deb­bie Bliss Cash­merino Aran in Stone 27. Pair of 5mm knit­ting nee­dles.

TEN­SION

18 sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over dou­ble garter st (rested and un­stretched – see Note) us­ing 5mm nee­dles.

K25(28:31), p to end. 4th row

P59(65:71), k to end. These 4 rows form the dou­ble moss st with sin­gle moss st and are re­peated. Work in patt un­til back mea­sures 35(37:39)cm from cast on edge, end­ing with a 3rd row.

Shape arm­holes

Cast off 12(13:14) sts knit­wise at beg of next 2 rows. 60(67:74) sts. Next row (RS) K to end.

Next row K13(15:17), p to end. Next row P47(52:57), k to end. Next row K to end. The last 4 rows re-set the patt with fewer sts at each side af­ter the arm­hole shap­ing and are re­peated un­til back mea­sures 51(55:59)cm, end­ing with a 1st row.

Shape back neck

Next row (RS) Patt 20(22:24), turn and cont on these sts only, leave rem sts on a spare nee­dle. Cast off 3 sts at beg (neck edge) of next row, and 2 sts at beg of foll 2 WS rows. 13(15:17) sts. Patt 1 row. Cast off rem sts for right shoul­der. With RS fac­ing, slip 20(23:26) sts onto a holder, re­join yarn to rem 20(22:24) sts, cast off 3 sts, patt to end. Patt 1 row. Cast off 2 sts at beg (neck edge) of next row and foll RS row. 13(15:17) sts. Patt 2 rows. Cast off rem sts for left shoul­der.

FRONT

With RS fac­ing, slip 16(19:22) sts on to a holder, re­join yarn to rem 22(24:26) sts, cast off 3 sts, patt to end. Patt 1 row. Cast off 2 sts at beg (neck edge) of next row and foll RS row, then

NECK EDG­ING

Join right shoul­der seam. With 5mm nee­dles, pick up and k15 sts down left front neck edge, k across 16(19:22) sts at cen­tre front, pick up and k16 sts up right front neck edge, 10 sts down right back neck edge, k across 20(23:26) sts at cen­tre back then pick up and k11 sts up left back neck. 88(94:100) sts. K 4 rows. Cast off knit­wise.

TO MAKE UP Join left shoul­der and neck­band seam. Join side seams, care­fully match­ing patts.
