letter

Prog - - Contents - This issue’s star letter wins a goodie bag from The Merch Desk at www.themerchdesk.com.

Just a short mail from South Africa. Here, like Australia, magazines take a bit longer to reach our shores. Luckily I’m a flight attendant and manage to get my music magazines quite fast. I just read the June 2017 issue [Prog 77, with Marillion on the cover] – stunning cover! I saw the Fish-era band during that time at Milton Keynes. My eyes caught the Prog 75 [100 Greatest Prog Anthems] issue on the Letters page and it hit me that my three favourite LPs were all EMI: Sgt Pepper, The Dark Side Of The Moon and A Night At The Opera. For a kid growing up in rural South Africa, that music was beyond anything we heard on the radio. Thank you for a great magazine.

What I would love to see in one of your issues is the greatest band no one ever heard – Freedom’s Children and their amazing Astra album. That is one of the most sought-after albums, and in mint condition may pay a lot of your retirement fund.

Thank you for a great read, and for the Marillion poster! Wow. Even a 58-yearold felt like a child again when I saw the Mark Wilkinson drawing.
