WRIGHT’S BACK AT THE PROG AWARDS!
The Wright Stuff host to compère this year’s event, with live music from Beatrix Players.
TV presenter Matthew Wright returns as host of the Progressive Music Awards 2017, in association with Orange Amplification. The event will be held on September 14 at London’s Underglobe.
“I still can’t believe this is happening to me, I pinch myself on stage every year!” says Wright. “Ultimately I’m a prog fan,
I was listening to the music long before I was writing. Standing up there, you meet hero after hero after hero and you get the chance to connect with them. I’ll always remember meeting Jakko Jakszyk last year. We’ve become good friends now.
“During my newspaper days, I used to cover showbiz news and I’ve been to everything from the Oscars to premières at Cannes, but nothing compares to the atmosphere that’s generated at the Prog Awards. I look forward to it every year.”

This year’s musical entertainment will come from chamber prog trio Beatrix Players. The Limelight Award-nominees will be performing material from their most recent album Magnified with violinist Maria Kroon, as well as a surprise cover version.
“We can’t wait, it’ll be brilliant,” says lead vocalist Amy Birks. “It’s incredible to be part of something so prestigious and to be surrounded by people who are prepared to accept something a little bit different. We’re so excited.”
Beatrix Players’ new single is out on October 6, and they’ll play in London and Manchester on October 5 and 13 respectively. NRS
