Ed’s Letter

-

Hello, and welcome to the new issue of Prog. Again, I hope this issue finds you as well as can be expected.

As I write we’ve been in lockdown here in the UK for about 10 weeks, and by the time you read this it would seem we are approaching some sort of exit route (a second wave of the virus notwithstanding). So, too, the music industry, which took a tumultuous hit from Covid-19, slowly seems like it’s waking up again. We’re seeing more albums cropping up on schedules, and I’m getting more emails in my inbox with news of upcoming releases. Alas there’s no news on the live front as yet, which is understandable given the severity of the situation facing us, but we are seeing more and more events being rescheduled for 2021. We’re not out of the woods by a long shot of course, but it’s refreshing to see such activity.

Again I thank you for your continued support of Prog Magazine. I would also like to extend that thanks to the unseen workers who have helped ensure your copies of Prog are on retailers’ shelves – the printers, the transportation and finishing house workers and the retail workers – without whom you wouldn’t be reading this.

Rick Wakeman graces the front cover this issue, telling us how he’s endured lockdown and giving us both the latest news on his new album, The Red Planet, and telling us what really happened with ARW. A supporting cast of Robert Fripp, Kansas, Caravan, Fairport Convention, Caligula’s Horse, Glass Hammer and more hopefully make this an issue you’ll savour.

We’re back on July 17. Until then, take care, stay safe, and stay in (if you have to).

Prog on…
