Pick some­thing to fo­cus on that has real artistry be­hind it, for ex­am­ple tiles. They could be hand-painted, or carv­ings. Any­thing that has a real skill in­volved is ex­cel­lent for photo walks – it has enough scope to be ap­pre­ci­ated.

Make sure you get the light and the fram­ing right. You can’t al­ways go back, es­pe­cially if you’re abroad!

Be con­sis­tent with your choice. Choose some­thing you re­ally love. If you lose in­ter­est, no-one else is go­ing to be in­ter­ested. It doesn’t mean you have to take a pic­ture ev­ery day, but do keep a cer­tain con­sis­tency to your col­lec­tion – In­sta­gram is a great place to share and to draw peo­ple in.
