Q (UK) - - Backstage - ALEX LAKE, Q CHIEF PHOTOGRAPHER

“Josh Homme is one of the funniest, toughest rock’n’roll bastards I’ve ever met. I photographed him for the Q cover in London. A couple of weeks later, I flew out to LA to shoot all of the Queens. On Josh’s recommendation, I spent a few hours hiking around the edges of Runyon Canyon, up in the Hollywood hills, in search of a suitable location. Down a steep trail, off the main track where lizards, black widows and rattlesnakes make their home, I found the perfect spot, downtown LA sprawling in the distance. When the band arrived it was clear Josh had hurt himself. An arduous 15- hour videoshoot the previous day had left his knee in a bad way, hence Josh making use of a cane in the photos. So we stuck to the main road above it all and as the sun slowly dropped away we took our photos before diving into cars back into the bright lights of the city.”
