“I went to all three London shows. I did my crying on the first one, I had a mosh on the second one and the third was a mix of the two. I’ve never felt like that with a band. I’d never experienced a band call it a day like that before. The more I think about it, the more I think it’s the perfect thing to do. Every record they turned in you’d go, ‘Oh my God, they’ve done it again!’ It’s been an amazing journey to see them grow and evolve and come out the other side. [ When the shows ended] I felt pretty devastated. I just stood there and cried for a bit. After quite a long time we all ended up in the dressing room and there was a lot of sobbing and then we drank a spectacular amount of rosé and champagne and thought, ‘Fuck it, just celebrate, it’s time for the next chapter – whatever that may be.’ As a bunch of guys, I believe in all of them. I have no doubt they’re going to succeed in whatever they do and I’m just very honoured to be part of what I think is one of the most perfect rock careers I’ve ever experienced in my life.”
