TELEVISION PERSONALITIES

Q (UK) - - Q Review -

BEAUTIFUL DESPAIR FIRE, OUT 26 JANUARY English eccentrics’ lost album found.

This “lost” mid-period album by cult indie act Television Personalities was home-recorded through 1989/90 and features songs that found their way onto 1992’ s bleakly fantastic Closer To God. It’s an essential addition to songwriter Dan Treacy’s back catalogue. Raw takes on his mental state (My Very First Nervous Breakdown) rub alongside whimsical character studies (If You Fly Too High hilariously skewers Evan Dando) to create an intimate, fragile document.
