DEUTSCHE ELEKTRONISCHE MUSIK 3 SOUL JAZZ, OUT NOW Third helping of cosmic ’ 70s West German rock.

This latest instalment of Soul Jazz’s top-drawer series of Teutonic rock and electronic music is the best – and most out-there – yet. Usual suspects such as Neu!, Cluster and Popul Vuh define the freewheeling, proggy art-rock of the era, but it’s lesser-known talents such as Michael Bundt and the wonderfully-named Missus Beastly whose ever-mutating, futuristic space-rock shines brightest, as if to offer a way of looking beyond their country’s troubled past with sheer mind-blowing adventurism.
