“After the new wave cassette days, my friends and I got into the California hardcore scene – Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Bad Religion. Also local punk bands like The Vandals, who I can’t say were good, but I can say that I thought they were awesome. They were from Orange County, kind of like Offspring ‘broworld’, and when you’re 14 it sounded like the most fun, catchy, obnoxious, snotty and juvenile music around. I also liked The Exploited, The Partisans, GBH and Discharge, bands who weren’t very PC but, for better or worse, probably changed my life a little bit.”
