When winter arrives, it’s difficult to imagine yourself getting used to the dark nights and early mornings. But then as the days start getting lighter again with the onset of spring, don’t you find your sleep disrupted? I am a light sleeper anyway, mainly because I keep myself awake at night with my head full of different colours, patterns and designs as I plan the next Tattered Lace launch. I even keep a notebook beside my bed so that when I wake up with an idea I can write it down in the hope that I will get back to sleep, but all that happens is another design pops into my head to take its place!

I always find it impossible not to be filled with inspiration in the build up to Valentine’s Day. There are so many stunning colours and designs everywhere you look, whether its cupcakes, flower arrangements, Pinterest or shop displays. I think a great way to celebrate is to make a beautifully decorated gift box and fill it with chocolates for your loved one.

As the special day draws nearer, I begin planning the card I am going to send to my husband. I always change my mind many times before I finally settle down to make one (usually the evening before, as I will have been working flat out). It feels wonderful to be able to take time to craft a Valentine’s Day card, and I know that my husband will really appreciate all the effort that has been put in.

So, I am off now to plan this year’s card and look forward to the box of chocolates that I will get on Valentine’s Day. Yum!
