My sister has just moved house, and I’d love to make her a card to celebrate the news. Could you recommend any designs for me, please? Anita Potter, Sheffield

Julie: What a lovely idea, Anita. For the card, I took a 14.5cm square white card base. I mounted the card base with a 14cm square of pink striped paper from the Holiday Bouquet Too paper collection from Nitwit Collections. I then cut a 14cm square of kraft card and cut away the four corners to create the octagonal shape. Using a sewing machine, I stitched a white border around the kraft octagon (you can use a white fine liner if you don’t have a sewing machine). I stamped the ‘A New Adventure’ stamp from Lili of the Valley on an 11cm die-cut circle and coloured in the image. I stitched the stamped circle to the kraft card octagon and glued it to the pink paper. Next, I wrapped baker’s twine around the front flap, attaching a key charm and a sentiment stitched to a die-cut tag. Add pink and white die-cut flowers and pearls, to finish.

Gold charms give a luxury touch to any card design

Adding a row of stitching to your card or paper will add extra texture to your design
