Capri races home to land the St Leger for Moore and O’Brien
RYAN Moore collected his full set of British Classics when Capri won a good renewal of the St Leger at Doncaster.
Aidan O’Brien carried off yet another major prize as his colt outstayed Crystal Ocean and had just a little too much class for third home Stradivarius.
It looks as though the winner will be heading to Chantilly next month. O’Brien said: “We had it in our heads that if all went well today and everything went well after he could run in the Arc.
“He’s probably a mileand-a-half horse with class. He has a great cruising speed, and we always knew he had courage and stamina as well as class.”
Crystal Ocean looked the winner entering the final furlong but his stamina seemed to give out.He can hit the heights over 1m4f next term if he stays in training.
Stradivarius proved that his defeat of Big Orange in the Goodwood Cup was no fluke. He looks set for a bright future in Cup races.
