Extra protection at Thurlow Park

Rail (UK) - - Network News -

One of the most heavily struck railway bridges in London, Thurlow Park Road Bridge, has received additional protection to try to reduce the number of road vehicles colliding with it.

The structure is located just off the end of the platforms at Tulse Hill, which makes it impossible to raise the bridge. A new detector system identifies overheight vehicles and warns them to turn back, while additional signage and steel beams have been fitted.

Engineers are also based at the bridge during peak hours to inspect it should they be required.
