HNRC to use ‘20s’ for components

Rail (UK) - - Fleet News -

Two Class 20s owned by Harry Needle Railroad Company will move to Barrow Hill to donate components to the company’s main line fleet, but will not be scrapped.

The locomotives - D8110 (20110) and 20087 - are currently at the East Lancashire Railway, but will move to HNRC’s workshops. This means their removal from a planned appearance at the ELR’s diesel gala on September 24/25. Both could be returned to main line condition if required, according to HNRC.

They were both bought from preservation, with 20087 based at the ELR before being acquired by HNRC. D8110 had been on hire to Tata Steel at Scunthorpe before that contract ended earlier this year - it then moved to the ELR on a 12-month hire period that has now been cut short.
