Broad­way: A May 2018 re- open­ing date has been an­nounced for the new north­ern ter­mi­nus of the Glouces­ter­shire War­wick­shire Rail­way. The £1 mil­lion fundrais­ing tar­get had reached £ 700,000 by early Au­gust, al­low­ing an or­der to be placed for the first con­sign­ment of rail.

Read­ing: The bor­ough coun­cil is call­ing for an ex­tra £ 2.5 mil­lion in­vest­ment in the remodelled station, to han­dle the growth in pas­sen­ger busi­ness be­fore the end of the decade. It par­tic­u­larly wants ad­di­tional ticket sales out­lets.

Twyford: A new car park needed for Cross­rail pas­sen­gers will lead to the evic­tion of gar­den­ers from their 100- year- old al­lot­ments. West­bury: A re­dun­dant 400ft chim­ney at the rail-con­nected ce­ment works is to be de­mol­ished on Septem­ber 18, mark­ing the end of pro­duc­tion at the plant af­ter 40 years.
