Class 387/3s for c2c are taking shape

Along with Great Western Rail­way’s Class 387/1 or­der, Bom­bardier is also build­ing six four-car Class 387/3s for c2c. These are all due into traf­fic be­fore the end of the year. On Au­gust 12, a ‘387/3’ driving ve­hi­cle and trailer stand in­side the man­u­fac­turer’s Derby Litchurch Lane fa­cil­ity, await­ing test­ing. Al­ready one set (387301) has been com­pleted, but as this is­sue of RAIL went to press none had been re­leased for test­ing on the main line. The ‘387/3s’ are taken from the spec­u­la­tive or­der for 20 Class 387s placed by Porter­brook last year.
