Class 387/3s for c2c are taking shape
Along with Great Western Railway’s Class 387/1 order, Bombardier is also building six four-car Class 387/3s for c2c. These are all due into traffic before the end of the year. On August 12, a ‘387/3’ driving vehicle and trailer stand inside the manufacturer’s Derby Litchurch Lane facility, awaiting testing. Already one set (387301) has been completed, but as this issue of RAIL went to press none had been released for testing on the main line. The ‘387/3s’ are taken from the speculative order for 20 Class 387s placed by Porterbrook last year.
