‘Buffer Puffer’ takes ‘20s’ to unlikely locations

Rail (UK) - - Network News - CHRIS MORRISON

Two GB Railfreight Class 20s (hired from Harry Needle Railroad Company) were used on Pathfinder Tours’ ‘The Buffer Puffer 13.0’ charter on August 20. The train, top-and-tailed by 20107 and 20314, ran from Eastleigh-Lymington Pier-Eastleigh-London Waterloo-Sheerness-Eastbourne-Brighton-Littlehampton-Bognor Regis-Portsmouth Harbour-Waterloo-Eastleigh. This took the '20s' to routes rarely visited by locomotive-hauled trains, with '20s' also an uncommon sight on the former Southern Region. With BR blue 20107 leading, the '20s' cross Kings Ferry Bridge at Swale, with the Sheerness-Eastbourne leg of the charter.
