Yousaf: timetable going to plan

Rail (UK) - - Network News -

Scottish Minister for Transport and Islands Humza Yousaf is confident of the timescales regarding electrification and the introduction of the Class 385s.

Speaking to RAIL at Glasgow Shields Road on December 11, he said: “There will be a step change. Electrification is the biggest change in a generation. We are planning for electrification, and we have no reason for changing that. Things are moving to the timetable we planned.”

However, Yousaf remained critical of the delays and Network Rail going over budget ( RAIL 815): “The projects overrunning is unacceptable, and I am still not satisfied with the HLOS [High Level Output Specification] process. The way we create processes has to change.”

He said that the infrastructure project procurement and early cost estimates, and the fact that the costs went up, is unacceptable.
