The top ten… RAIL casts an approving eye over the winning entries in the 2016 National Railway Heritage Awards.
The annual National Railway Heritage Awards recognise and honour projects that aim to preserve, restore and brighten up Britain’s railways. This year’s competition attracted 43 entries from public and heritage railways in all parts of the UK and Ireland. The winners were announced on December 7, with their plaques (and certificates for the other shortlisted entries) presented by Rail Minister Paul Maynard.
The full gathering, at the Merchant Taylors’ Hall in the City of London, included representatives of the railway industry ( both national and heritage) and those with conservation interests, as well as the entrants and their guests.
