Guards must DOO better

-

Whatever the rights and wrongs of Driver Only Operation, from my experience guards do not help their cause by often performing their duties inconsistently.

On numerous occasions travelling with East Midlands Trains, the guard frequently remains hidden in his/her cabin, not checking or selling tickets. One or two do seem quite proactive, offering advice for onward travel as they check tickets.

I assume management has noticed this behaviour and realised that the position of the guard (as it stands) may be redundant. Tony Shelton, Nottingham
