NR plans Anglia crossing closures
Network Rail has applied to close or change the use of 130 level crossings across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and Suffolk.
A Transport and Works Act Order application has been submitted to Secretary of State for Transport Chris Grayling. If approved closures and usage changes to level crossings will start in late 2018.
Crossings identified for closure include those where there are private rights only, where a nearby alternative exists, or where a new public route to an alternative can be easily provided. Other crossings will be downgraded to nonmotorised users, although none of these are on A or B-roads.
