Board meet­ing pa­pers from a re­cent Pro­grammes and In­vest­ment Com­mit­tee meet­ing showed that con­struc­tion of Cross­rail was 82% com­plete, with 76% of track-lay­ing com­plete by early March.

It said that the ma­jor phys­i­cal ac­tiv­i­ties cur­rently un­der way were the fit­ting out of sta­tions, in­stal­la­tion of me­chan­i­cal and elec­tri­cal sys­tems such as the ven­ti­la­tion, lifts and es­ca­la­tors, and also the in­stal­la­tion of ca­bling, com­mu­ni­ca­tions, power and sig­nalling sys­tems.

Op­er­a­tionally, the meet­ing dis­cov­ered, TfL Rail re­mains one of the most re­li­able of the na­tional train op­er­a­tors, with a 96.0% Public Per­for­mance Measure (PPM) dur­ing the most re­cently recorded pe­riod; this was the sec­ond best in the UK. For TfL Rail, 87.9% of trains ar­rived within a minute’s sched­uled time, which was the high­est of any UK op­er­a­tor.
