Govia Thameslink Railway’s CaSL performance
When the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern (TSGN) franchise began operation as Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) on July 26 2015, performance of the three sub-operators had already been deteriorating in the previous four years.
In Q3 2011-12, all three had a PPM MAA in excess of 90%. During 2014-15 the Thameslink PPM MAA declined by 4.5pp and the Southern PPM MAA 2.6pp. The GN PPM MAA recovered 3.8pp, ending 2014-15 at 89.1%.
The first quarter of 2015-16 was the last full quarter where Southern was not part of GTR. It ended the quarter with a PPM MAA of 82.5%. For Thameslink, the figure was 82.2%, and for Great Northern it was 88.9%.
At Q4 2016-17, Southern’s PPM MAA had plummeted by 9.2pp since Q1 2015-16, Thameslink’s’ was down 8.2pp and Great Northern’s 8.7pp.
