‘170’ back with GA after repairs
Greater Anglia 170204 has returned to the operator, following collision repairs at Brodie Engineering in Kilmarnock.
The three-car diesel multiple unit was badly damaged when it hit a tractor near Thetford on April 10 last year. It required one cab to be rebuilt, while damage to the centre vehicle also required attention.
Its absence forced GA to hire two Class 68s and three Mk 2s from Direct Rail Services. That arrangement is expected to continue until September, to cover the refurbishment plan under way for the Class 170/2s.
The DMU was not refurbished while it was away, meaning it will need to follow 170201/208/270 to Crewe LNWR for internal treatment at some stage.
