Class 33 to make island debut

Rail (UK) - - News -

A Class 33 is to make a debut for the class on the Isle of Wight when 33202 stars at the IoW Steam Railway diesel event on September 29-October 1.

The Type 3 will be taken to the IoW by ship and is only the fourth British Rail diesel to visit the island. It returns to the mainland after the event.

The ‘33’ is restricted to operating between Smallbrook Junction and Havenstreet as it is too long for a headshunt at Wooton. It may work one train per day through to Wooton, but not the return.
