Easier seat reservations

-

I note that the debate continues regarding rail fares for Advance journeys ( RAIL 831).

The Advance purchase revolution is a god send. I am sure that many like me, with no other means than to budget carefully, welcome any reduction in the cost of travel.

Although we were the first to develop the railway, other countries have overtaken us on many fronts, including ticketing.

Japan is one very good example. Having just returned from Japan, I was very conscious that boarding trains and seat reservation problems didn’t exist. Those passengers who book ahead with seat reservations are separated from those without by the make-up of the train - halfreserved and half non-reserved.

I suggest that HS2 will be able to replicate this easy method. Bob Newitt, Lutterworth
