TFL consults on Holborn upgrades

Rail (UK) - - News -

Transport for London is consulting on plans to upgrade Holborn Underground station.

Under its proposals, the station would more than double in size and include a new entrance and exit on Procter Street. Additionally, three new lifts in the existing Kingsway entrance would provide step-free access to the Central and Piccadilly lines, and planned new interchange routes between the two lines are expected to reduce crowding at peak times.

Holborn is the eleventh-busiest station on the Underground network, with 63 million passengers using it every year. Demand is expected to increase by 30% in the 2030s.
