Rail (UK) - - News - JOHN STRETTON.

Six years after withdrawal, 86901 stands in Freightliner’s Crewe Basford Hall Yard on October 7. The Class 86/9 has been acquired by the freight operator to donate parts to its own Class 86/6 fleet, which dates from 1965-66. The ‘86/9’ was converted from 86253 in 2006 for use as a mobile land bank, but these duties ended in 2010. The locomotive had been moved to CF Booth’s scrapyard in Rotherham before being roaded to Crewe.
