Wiring faults hit Eus­ton ser­vices

Ser­vices to and from Lon­don Eus­ton were se­verely dis­rupted over the first week­end of De­cem­ber when over­head wires came down at Wem­b­ley on De­cem­ber 1.

More than 500 me­tres of cate­nary and as­so­ci­ated struc­tures were dam­aged, as well as a set of points. Vir­gin West Coast and Lon­don Mid­land ser­vices were se­verely dis­rupted, and all lines out of Lon­don Eus­ton were closed on the morn­ing of De­cem­ber 3. The Slow lines re­opened at mid­day, and the Fast lines an hour later.

Net­work Rail is in­ves­ti­gat­ing the cause of the in­ci­dent.
