First new sand wagons at GBRf
GB Railfreight has taken delivery of the first rake of new wagons for sand traffic.
Built by Greenbrier in Poland and owned by Nacco, they support the five-year deal signed with Sibelco last year. Forty-one 101.6-tonne hoppers are being leased, and will be used on the Middleton TowersGoole/Barnsley/Doncaster routes, replacing four-wheel hoppers.
The wagons enable GBRf to almost double the load per vehicle from 36 tonnes to 70. They arrived in the UK via the Channel Tunnel.
