Grand Central HST farewell tour
Ten years after Grand Central started running trains, the open access operator is replacing the three High Speed Trains it introduced in 2007 with Class 180 Adelantes. To mark the end of the HSTs, GC organised a farewell charter alongside the Branch Line Society and 125 Group on December 17, taking an HST to various destinations, with the train raising money for charity. It started at Newcastle, and ran to Ryhope Grange Junction before heading to Sand Bank Junction, Hexthorpe, Doncaster Roberts Road, Barrow Hill South Junction, Stockport, Bradford Interchange and Gascoigne Wood. With GC 43423 Valenta 1972-2010 leading (43480 was on the rear), the charter passes Bamford, on the Hope Valley route, with the Barrow Hill-Bradford via Stockport leg.
