Grand Cen­tral HST farewell tour

Ten years af­ter Grand Cen­tral started run­ning trains, the open ac­cess op­er­a­tor is re­plac­ing the three High Speed Trains it in­tro­duced in 2007 with Class 180 Ade­lantes. To mark the end of the HSTs, GC or­gan­ised a farewell charter along­side the Branch Line So­ci­ety and 125 Group on De­cem­ber 17, tak­ing an HST to var­i­ous des­ti­na­tions, with the train rais­ing money for char­ity. It started at New­cas­tle, and ran to Ry­hope Grange Junc­tion be­fore head­ing to Sand Bank Junc­tion, Hex­thorpe, Don­caster Roberts Road, Bar­row Hill South Junc­tion, Stock­port, Bradford In­ter­change and Gas­coigne Wood. With GC 43423 Va­lenta 1972-2010 lead­ing (43480 was on the rear), the charter passes Bam­ford, on the Hope Val­ley route, with the Bar­row Hill-Bradford via Stock­port leg.
