On December 12 2017, Hitachi Rail Europe 800302 passes Twyford with a North Pole-Stoke Gifford test run. This is the first of 21 nine-car Class 800/3s delivered by HRE for testing. Three were built in Kasado in Japan (800301-800303), while the first UK-assembled set is 800304, which has begun testing at Newton Aycliffe.
