New CrossCountry stock

Rail (UK) - - Letters -

One Friday recently, I boarded a Plymouth-Glasgow service at Derby. The CrossCountry Voyager consisted of four coaches, one of them First Class. I managed to get a seat and the journey was comfortable.

But by Sheffield the train was packed, and the trolley person had an awful job to get through.

Is a four-coach train really adequate for a journey of over 500 miles, as the train was still very busy as we pulled into Glasgow? I keep reading about new trains for various operators, but CrossCountry seems to have been forgotten. Fred Rogers, Derby
