TPE Class 68s depart for Czech Republic

TransPennine Express 68019 and 68021 are towed through Tonbridge by Rail Operations Group 37601 Perseus on March 6, on their way to Velim test track in the Czech Republic. The ‘68s’ will be used to test the first rake of CAF Mk 5As that were on their way from Beasain (northern Spain) for testing as this issue of RAIL went to press. The first rake of TPE Mk 5As (the second complete set) is due in the UK this May. Thirteen Class 68-hauled Mk 5A sets will enter traffic from this year.
