Harry has a day to remember

Rail (UK) - - Network News - GWR.

A dream came true for a young train fan (left) on July 10, when he was invited to try his hand at being a train driver. Harry is living with Retinoblastoma (a rare form of eye cancer). Charity Make a Wish UK contacted Great Western Railway to ask if the operator could help, as Harry is especially interested in the new Intercity Express Trains. GWR worked with its uniform supplier to create a made-to-measure uniform, GWR name badge, ID and lanyard, and presented Harry with an image of an IET with his name on. Harry helped check tickets on-board the 1100 service from Paddington, and was then able to have a go at driving a train at the GWR Driver Simulator Centre at Reading with GWR Simulator Manager Andy Long (right).
