Grand Central uses ‘67’ for Bank Holiday duty
Grand Central hired a Class 67 and Mk 2 coaches from DB Cargo over the August Bank Holiday weekend, to provide extra capacity and cover during disruption elsewhere on the network.
It says it hired the set in the expectation of unusually high loadings on the East Coast Main Line, due to the closure of Euston station that weekend, engineering work on the Midland Main Line, and sporting fixtures.
GC’s Class 180 fleet was fully available for the weekend, and the locomotive and coaches were also available for use by other long-distance operators.
