An­da­nia’s first rev­enue-earn­ing duty for 33 years

Pre­served D213 An­da­nia hauled its first rev­enue-earn­ing train on the na­tional net­work since 1985, when it hauled a Saphos Trains char­ter on Au­gust 27. Lo­co­mo­tive Ser­vices Lim­ited has hired the Class 40 for a three-year pe­riod, and its first train - the ‘Cum­brian Moun­tain Whistler’ - ran from Crewe-Carlisle. The out­ward leg ran via the Set­tle-Carlisle route, with the re­turn via the West Coast Main Line. The BR green Type 4 runs down the gra­di­ent to­wards Te­bay at Green­holme, on the re­turn.
