Andania’s first revenue-earning duty for 33 years
Preserved D213 Andania hauled its first revenue-earning train on the national network since 1985, when it hauled a Saphos Trains charter on August 27. Locomotive Services Limited has hired the Class 40 for a three-year period, and its first train - the ‘Cumbrian Mountain Whistler’ - ran from Crewe-Carlisle. The outward leg ran via the Settle-Carlisle route, with the return via the West Coast Main Line. The BR green Type 4 runs down the gradient towards Tebay at Greenholme, on the return.
