Two Class 195s are due to en­ter traf­fic with North­ern be­fore Christ­mas, with a third in ser­vice by the end of the year.

ScotRail has ac­cepted 15 Class 385s into traf­fic fol­low­ing test­ing.

The Hi­tachi elec­tric mul­ti­ple units are cur­rently be­ing in­tro­duced on the Ed­in­burghGlas­gow via Falkirk and North Ber­wick routes, and will be rolled out across more routes in the com­ing months, in­clud­ing newly wired routes to Stir­ling.

Cur­rently in traf­fic in Scot­land are 385003-008, 385103/104/ 122.

There are a fur­ther 11 un­der­go­ing test­ing north of the border (385009/010/014-016, 385105/108/112/113/123/124). Of these, 385105/108/113 were de­liv­ered dur­ing the week be­gin­ning Oc­to­ber 22, while 385107 was de­liv­ered the week prior.

The Ja­panese man­u­fac­turer is cur­rently de­liv­er­ing four-car sets hav­ing re­leased sev­eral three-car ‘385s’ from New­ton Ay­cliffe.

Mean­while, at New­ton Ay­cliffe, the num­ber of ‘385s’ in var­i­ous stages of test­ing has reached 21 (385011-013/017019/031/033, 385109-121), while con­struc­tion con­tin­ues on 385020-030/032/034-042.

And four pre-se­ries sets are at Pis­toia (Italy) for in­te­rior re­fit­ting, fol­low­ing test­ing in Scot­land (385001, 385102) and main­land Europe (385002, 385101).
