Two Class 195s are due to enter traffic with Northern before Christmas, with a third in service by the end of the year.
ScotRail has accepted 15 Class 385s into traffic following testing.
The Hitachi electric multiple units are currently being introduced on the EdinburghGlasgow via Falkirk and North Berwick routes, and will be rolled out across more routes in the coming months, including newly wired routes to Stirling.
Currently in traffic in Scotland are 385003-008, 385103/104/ 122.
There are a further 11 undergoing testing north of the border (385009/010/014-016, 385105/108/112/113/123/124). Of these, 385105/108/113 were delivered during the week beginning October 22, while 385107 was delivered the week prior.
The Japanese manufacturer is currently delivering four-car sets having released several three-car ‘385s’ from Newton Aycliffe.
Meanwhile, at Newton Aycliffe, the number of ‘385s’ in various stages of testing has reached 21 (385011-013/017019/031/033, 385109-121), while construction continues on 385020-030/032/034-042.
And four pre-series sets are at Pistoia (Italy) for interior refitting, following testing in Scotland (385001, 385102) and mainland Europe (385002, 385101).
